K-FEST Photoshoot: Omin’s Killorglin Mural and Limited Edition Charity T-Shirt

This past June, during Killorglin’s K-FEST (31st May – 3rd June 2024), I had the chance to do an impromptu photoshoot with Omin (Instagram: @ominous_omin). Omin was in town to create a stunning mural at the end of Laune Bridge on Lower Bridge Street, and I got to capture some key moments while he was working on it.

The mural itself is an impressive interpretation of the natural landscape surrounding Killorglin. It features sweeping hills, flowers, and rivers, with the composition blending vibrant colours and abstract shapes. The mural’s design beautifully reflects the natural beauty of the region, which made for an incredible backdrop during the shoot.

For the photoshoot, I joined Omin up on a scissor lift while he was mid-process, spray can in hand, bringing his vision to life. It was amazing to see the mural coming together from such a close angle and to capture those moments as Omin painted. Being in the air on the lift gave me a unique perspective, allowing me to get shots that showcased both the detail of his mural and the scale of the project.

This shoot wasn’t just about the mural, though—Omin had also teamed up with Dublin-based clothing company BiPolar Bear Wear to create a limited-edition t-shirt featuring his artwork. The design, called Space to Breathe, is a reminder to take time out for yourself amidst life’s chaos. The photos I took on-site were used to launch the t-shirt, which quickly gained attention across social media and was shared by both Omin and BiPolar Bear Wear. The photos also made their way to The Argus newspaper in Dundalk, helping spread the word about the project.

The mural’s location, just over Laune Bridge, gave us the perfect setting for both the photoshoot and the t-shirt launch. The mural itself captures the stunning local landscape, with its hills, rivers, and bright wildflowers, blending elements of abstract and natural beauty. It’s a striking representation of Killorglin that perfectly suited the festival atmosphere.

Only 150 of these limited-edition t-shirts were made, and they sold out quickly after the photos and campaign were shared online. If you were lucky enough to get one, you’ve got yourself a piece of wearable art with a great cause behind it. 100% of the profits from the t-shirt sales went directly to the charity Save Our Homeless Dundalk.
